The BRP Sierra Madre stays on position in Ayungin Shoal to protect Philippines sovereignty over the sea. The Philippine's on Sunday filed a memorial before the UN to assert it's claims over the areas that China also claim as it's own. Defending it's legitimate territory the Philippine government has finally submitted a memorial to the UN Tribunal to contest China's claims in the West Philippine Sea. PCO Sec. Coloma Jr. announced the country's latest action against China a day after the government denounced the reported harassment of Pilipino ship by Chinese Coast Guard in the Ayungin Shoal. The Int'l Tribunal on the Law of Seas (ITLOS) earlier asked the Philippines to submit a memorial or written pleading on or before Mar. 30, 2014 after filing a complaint against China last year. China has asserted it's claims to most of territories in the South China and refused to participate in international arbitration initiated by the Philippines. In the wake of the latest encounter between Chinese and Pilipino ships in the Ayungin Shoal, Coloma maintained that the government will keep it resolve to pursue peaceful and settlement of the territorial conflict with China. A Philippine civilian ship manage to evade a Chinese Coat Guard vessel and bring supplies to soldiers assigned in a marooned navy ship at the Ayungin Shoal. The Chinese initially tried to block the Pilipinos from sailing in the area warning them about the consequences of their actions.
