King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden Has Been Feted with Rites by Philippine Boy Scouts

VP Binay and the National President of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines presents the Mount Makiling award to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden at the Asia Pacific Region-Philippine Scouting Center in Los Banos, Laguna on Jan. 25, 2014. The award is conferred on visiting VIP's including presidents, kings, queens and head of friendly states. King Gustaf, honorary chairman of World Scout Foundation and his team arrived in the country last Friday for a series of scouting related activities including youth development and environmental protection. Binay is the national president of BSP. The Swedish monarch together with the other dignitaries from the World Organization of Scout Movement from Sweden and Philippines, paid a courtesy visit to Pres. Aquino in Malacanang on Friday before he went to BSP national office in Ermita, Manila. Today the king will be meeting the scouts who volunteered to do restoration and cleanup work in Tacloban City and other towns in Leyte ravaged by Super Typhoon Yolanda last November. Janice Cartago information officer of the BSP, said King Gustaf yesterday met around 8,000 participants from Southern Luzon and the National Capital Region (NCR) as part of the 6 day event of the 3rd One Regional Scout Jamborrette hosted by the City of Sta. Rosa led by it's Council Chairman city mayor Arlene Arcillas.
