Malacanang on Saturday assured that the government has ramped up its campaign to contain the reported measles outbreak in several parts of the country. Deputy Pres. Spokesperson Valte made the assurance amid criticism from a group of doctors that the Dept. of Health (DOH) failed on its anti-measles drive. While Valte didn't respond to the criticism made by the Philippine Pediatrics Society (PPS) that the DOH failed to educate parents about the importance of anti-measles immunization program. On the other hand, children aged 12-23 months have also been inoculated. Meanwhile the Palace official said some 21,560 children aged up to 5 yrs. old from 148 barangays in the City of Manila have received anti-measles booster shots. The Dept. of Health has also deployed mobile teams for it's door to door approach to ensure that children aged 9 months to 59 months get their first dose of anti-measles vaccine.
