Town officials have launched a contest for the best Christmas decorations among the villages in the City of Tacloban with a 1st prize of some 1,694 euros. The destruction and loses in lives and properties cause by Yolanda are casting a pall over the holiday season, in a country known for having the world's longest celebration of Christmas. According to the Philippine disaster relief agency 6,102 people were killed and 1,779 were still missing from Yolanda's onslaught.
