After 9 months into his papacy his holiness Pope Francis has been chosen as TIME Magazine's "Person of the Year 2013". The pontiff who heads the 1.2 Billion Catholics all over the globe was chosen over 9 finalists for the prestigious awards, originally called Man of the Year. It was 1st given in 1927 by TIME's editorial board to the person who they believed has the most impact in the lives of people and in the news for the year. Pope Francis has become a new voice of conscience because of his message of humility and compassion that has made him something of a rock star. It was in the 3rd time in 51 years that TIME has chosen a pope as it's Person of the Year.
