Philippines-Cebu Accepts Evacuees of Leyte

The Northern part of Cebu was also destroyed by the Super Typhoon Yolanda last week but the local government has opened its arms to welcome more than 3,000 evacuees from the province of Leyte. Over 2,800 individuals from Leyte arrived in Cebu Friday afternoon on board of the Phil. Navy's Dagupan 551 vessel after almost 24 hr. of voyage from Tacloban City port. While the further evacuees is still at around 3,000 temporary shelters have been set up in Cebu City and Lapu-Lapu City but Davide expects the number to rise in following days, prompting him to create committees that will take care of their needs. Davide said the provincial government is considering converting Capitol owned lots into evacuation camps. These are the stud farm in Sudlon, Brgy. Lahug, the old Balili property in Brgy. Tinaan and the 2 hectare lot in Brgy. Inayagan in Naga City.
