The commander-in-chief came out candid and defensive of his embattled
allies when he played a picture association game on television on
Sunday.
In the episode recorded in the Palace late last month, Vice Ganda had
asked the President to describe in one word the politicians and
celebrities whose images were shown on the television screen.
When a picture of Binay was displayed, the President described the
country’s second highest leader as an old friend. “Matagal ko na ring
kaibigan. Siya ang kasama ko ‘nung EDSA revolution [We’ve been friends
for a long time. We were together during the EDSA revolution],” Aquino
said.
On Roxas, the President described the DILG chief as “masipag [hardworking] and thorough.”
Aquino called Social Welfare Secretary Corazon Aquino as “maaasahan
[reliable]” especially in times of calamities, Bureau of Internal
Revenue (BIR) chief Kim Henares as “maraming natatakot [feared by many],
and Justice Secretary Leila de Lima as “serious” especially at work.
Aquino also described Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago as “combative”
while Camarines Sur Rep. Leni Robredo reminded him of the work of the
late Interior Secretary Jesse Robredo.
Asked to describe younger sister Kris, the President said: “Interesting.”
