PNoy-Marcos Feud Not on a Person Level Said By: Malacanang

Malacañang said yesterday that President Aquino believes the Aquino-Marcos feud is nothing personal, but about seeking justice for the victims of human rights abuses during Martial Law. “Sa nakikita ko naman ay wala namang personal na alitan o mga usaping namamagitan on a personal level (From what I can see, there exists no grudge or quarrel among them on a personal level),” said Presidential Communications Operations Office (PCOO) Secretary Herminio Coloma, Jr.
“Marami na tayong nasaksihang mga okasyon na kung saan ay dumalo sa Palasyo sa mga official functions sina Senator Marcos, former First Lady at Representative, ngayon, Imelda Marcos, Ilocos Norte Governor Imee Marcos (We have witnessed several occasions in which the Marcoses have attended official functions sin Malacañang),” Coloma added.
Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, in a radio interview, had urged that the Aquinos and Marcoses should forget the past, noting that the political feud had been between his father, the late former President Ferdinand Marcos, and President Aquino’s father, the late former Senator Benigno S. Aquino, Jr.
Coloma, however, said that though the President has no personal grudge against the Marcoses, there is a need to ensure justice among the victims of human rights during the Martial Law years.
“Ipinaaalala ni Pangulong Aquino ang kahalagahan ng paggawad ng katarungan para sa marami pang nakabinbin na kaso na bunsod ng diktadurya kabilang na ang human rights violations at alleged ill-gotten wealth (President Aquino has always been mindful of the importance of giving justice to Martial Law victims, including human rights violations and alleged ill-gotten wealth),” Coloma said.
“So ito ay hindi usaping pamilya; ito ay usapin ng katarungan (This is not a family matter; it is an issue of justice),” he added.
Meanwhile, Coloma said it is unfair to call for the resignation of President Aquino for alleged human rights abuses being committed by military personnel under his term.
Reports revealed that there are protesters from Southern Tagalog, Visayas, and Mindanao who are calling for the resignation of President Aquino for alleged human rights abuses by the military under his administration.
