Amid allegations of corruption against him and his family, Vice
President Jejomar C. Binay on Saturday said he remains focused on his
responsibilities as housing czar and President Aquino’s adviser on
Overseas Filipino Workers’ Concerns.
The Vice President said his supporters have encouraged him to keep
going despite allegations that he and his family gained from projects of
the Makati City government.
“People have been telling me not to be disheartened and that they
know the allegations hurled against me and my family are politically
motivated since I always figure prominently in popularity surveys and
the fact that I have openly declared my plan to seek the Presidency in
2016,” Binay said in the vernacular.
He stressed that he will not let the allegations affect his work.
“Hindi po magbabago si Jojo Binay. Hindi ko po kakalimutan ang aking
trabaho, (Jojo Binay will not change, I will not neglect my duties and
responsibilities),” he said.
Binay lamented that a lot of issues are being associated with him,
including the failed bombing attempt at the Ninoy Aquino International
Airport the NAIA and the alleged overpricing of the construction of the
Makati City Hall II building.
The Vice President maintained that the allegations are baseless and “politically-motivated.”
