Sen. Drilon Nixes Shifting PDAF Inquiry to Ethics Panel

Sen. Pres. Drilon on Feb. 19, 2014 thumbed down a proposal to move the inquiry to Pork Barrel/PDAF Fund Scam from the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee to the Senate Ethics Panel saying this may derail passage of key legislation that congressional leaders have agreed to prioritize before they adjourn on the 3rd week of March. Drilon said Senate leaders are having difficulty forming the committee and finding someone who could head it objectively. Besides he said Congress only has 3 weeks left to attend to priority legislation under deliberation in their respective chambers. Senate Deputy Minority Leader Sotto had earlier suggested that the investigation into Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) be handled by the ethics committee after Sen. Estrada and Sen. Guingona figured in a verbal clash over the latter's alleged attempt to pre judge the Pork Barrel/PDAF Scam case. Sen. Guingona is the head of the Blue Ribbon Committee or the Senate Committee on Accountability of Public Officers and Investigations which is currently the alleged misuse of the PDAF by some legislators.
