Pres. Aquino said on Feb. 19, 2014 it was up to the court to decide on the request of Janet Lim Napoles to be placed under hospital arrest. Napoles has requested to be placed under hospital arrest at the St. Luke's Medical Center in Taguig City where they said she will undergo a thorough medical checkup for suspected ovarian cancer. PNoy said that while it's the government's obligation to ensure the health of those who are detained Napoles request would be up to the court. Meanwhile lawmakers are open to the request of Napoles to be placed under hospital, provided that her health condition warrants it and this is certified by state doctors. Ansaldo filed an urgent motion for medical examination before Makati City Regional Trial Court requesting authorities to place her under hospital arrest. They said Napoles' CT scan results showed that she has ovarian tumor. AKO Bicol partylist Rep. Batocabe cited the possibility of Napoles being placed under hospital arrest for humanitarian considerations as long as she can prove that she has threatening ailment. Last Oct. 24, 2013 Napoles was rushed to the emergency room of Southern Luzon Hospital and Medical Center due to severe abdominal pains and profuse menstrual bleeding.
