A lawmaker has called for the creation of Cancer Treatment Centers in every region in the country to give more patients quick and easy access to specialized medical care. Bataan Rep. Roman explained that the establishment of cancer care centers in the countryside would give all patients equal chance of availing cancer-related services and facilities. Roman filed House Bill 3765 to mandate government to establish cancer centers in various parts of the country and finance their operations. The lady lawmaker emphasized that based on a World Health Organization report on cancer, the most feared disease can be cured if diagnose early. Roman, Chairperson of the House Committee on Veterans Affairs, said each cancer center will provide medical services such as diagnosis, appropriate treatment and care to cancer patients, taking into account cost-effectiveness, affordability and social and ethical aspects. HB 3765 said that the center will be responsible for the dissemination of information and creation of awareness on cancer and it's prevention, control and treatment options. The center also aim to promote, encourage, engage and assists in scientific research on matters related to cancer and to implement the National Cancer Management Program. Roman explained that the National Cancer Management Program should serve as a template for cancer control planning and treatment program implementation in the country.
