The death toll from the Low Pressure Area (LPA) which became Tropical Depression Agaton has increased to 64 according to the latest report released by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC). As of Monday, the NDRRMC said at least 244,344 families or 1,148,621 persons from 1,002 villages in 16 provinces of Mindanao were affected by the LPA, which intensified into a Tropical Depression named Agaton. It weakened into LPA again 3 days later but continued to bring rains in the Southern Philippines. Of the total affected population, 22,095 families or 108,991 families were still temporarily sheltered in 235 evacuation centers. NDRRMC also said that 1,147 houses were totally destroyed, while 1,717 were partially damaged. The NDRRMC said it remains under blue alert status to continuously monitor the situation. Estimated cost of damage was pegged at Php 509,905,686.72. Infrastructure damaged totaled to Php 256,413,750 while cost of damage to agriculture was at Php 253,491,936.72.
