The City Mayor of Tacloban Alfred Romualdez wipes tears from his eyes as he testifies during a Senate hearing conducted yesterday to assess the action taken by the government following Nov. 8, 2013 devastation caused by the Super Typhoon Yolanda. "You have to remember you are a Romualdez. The president is an Aquino." Teared eyed Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez quoted Interior Secretary Mar Roxas which is an ally of PNoy during the public hearing yesterday by a congressional oversight committee following the Nov. 8, 2013 onslaught. Political observers said this appeared to stoke the decades old Aquino-Marcos/Romualdez political enmity heightened by the Aug. 21, 1983 assassination at the Manila International Airport of PNoy's father Ninoy Aquino who returned from his exile in US. Romualdez who nearly lost his life when Super Typhoon Yolanda surged from the Pacific nearly destroyed a building sought refuge said the national government's help to his city was wanting. Romualdez also took potshots at Roxas for trying to legalize everything in disaster hit Tacloban which has a shortage of policemen, no courts, no fiscal's office and members of the city council were Super Typhoon Yolanda victims as well.
