Php 12 Billion is Needed to Repair Classrooms in Visayas

The DepEd Sec. Luistro said that around Php 12 Billion would be needed to repair and replace the classroom in areas hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda. Based on the latest data gathered by DepEd, Luistro said that at least 5,900 classrooms need replacement while around 14,500 classrooms needs major repair. DepEd Engineers are still visiting the affected schools to asses the damage and make initial costing report. The regions that were badly hit by the Super Typhoon Yolanda are Reg. 4-A, Reg. 6, Reg. 7 and Reg. 8. Luistro said he is hoping that the reported number of classrooms damaged in affected areas "wouldn't change so much" so that the construction would be done before the next school year begins.
