The Energy Sec. Carlos Jericho Petilla is keeping his word. After failing to bring back electricity to all the areas devastated by the Super Typhoon Yolanda by Christmas Eve, Petilla is poised to submit his resignation to Pres. Aquino on Thursday when government work resumes. It was in November that the energy chief gave the task of restoring power in all typhoon ravaged communities across the central Philippines a Dec. 24 deadline. Failure to do so vowed Petilla will cost him his job. On the eve of Christmas, electricity has yet to be restored in at least 3 towns out of 300 and this falls short of Petilla's promise. Malacanang Palace has already confirmed the energy secretary's intention to vacate his office. Lacierda refused to issue any other comment about the issue. It was in November 2012 that Petilla took his oath of office as energy chief replacing current Secretary to the Cabinet Almendras.
