The U.S. Embassy issued the 1st fiance visa to same sex couple in the Philippines. Although same-sex marriage has not yet been recognized in the country, the U.S. Embassy in the Philippines has issued the 1st fiance visa to a same sex couple last Dec. 2, 2013. This means that gay Americans can now petition for family based visas on behalf of their Pilipino spouses, fiance and their kids. Recently the Supreme Court of the U.S. reversed the Defense of Marriage Act to give federal rights and privileges of marriages to any married couple regardless of sexual orientation. On Tuesday PNoy said he can't yet decide whether it should be legalized in the Philippines explaining that the perspective of the adopted child of the gay couples must be considered.
