As food supplies in some typhoon hit communities remain scarce, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned desperate residents from consuming dead animals and rations submerged in flood water. FDA issued the advisory amid reports that some of the affected residents in the areas hit by the Super Typhoon Yolanda have been resorting to eating dead animals and looting the cold storage of some establishment to survive. FDA warned against the practice as it could pose serious health complication to consumers in the long run as it serves as host of harmful microorganisms.
