X-factor Philippines' Daddy's Home says thank you to all the filipinos in Greece

The group may not have been the grand winner of the show X-factor, the Philippine version of the U.K. singing competition, but the show is just the start for Daddy's home. Daddy's home is a band, composed of four fathers who dream of finding their success in the music industry. But these daddies are not only talented, they are also smart entrepreneurs and have successful careers outside music. They also share a love for Overseas Filipino Workers, dedicating one of their songs for today's modern heroes.

Tsismosa online was given the privilege to interview this talented group through Mr. Allan Mitchell Silonga, the band's vocalist, about their love for music and their future plans.

1. You found success through the band Daddy's home, tell us about how Daddy's home started?

Allan Mitchell Silonga, founder and creator of Daddy's Home spotted the announcement for the last audition on Facebook. A former non-believer of reality TV competitions, something struck him hard with excitement upon seeing the ad.

Allan’s mind was clouded with so many thoughts, so he asked for guidance and light from God through a heartfelt prayer. Then, a dream so big and overwhelming woke him up, sweating at 4 o’clock in the morning. Visions came pouring in like a roaring thunderstorm revealing the name ‘Daddy’s Home’ with images of four men singing in front of thousands of people. It was a divine answer from the heavens.

Allan went online again, this time, looking for friends who possess the qualities of a group member he envisioned. He asked many talented people who had day jobs to provide for their families and at the same time still into bar gigs in pursuit of their musical career but some declined, others hesitated, more of them didn't believed in the vision.

The search wasn’t easy. He came to ask an old friend in the person of Jerome Icatar, a sales representative by day and a singer by night. Jerome was a bit hesitant at first because of his previous hospitalization due to depression, because he terribly misses his 6-year old daughter whom he hasn’t seen for a long time. Despite of all the things troubling him, he later said yes to Allan’s offer with hopes of seeing his child if ever they make it on television.

Then, Allan called Eric Dacanay, a medical doctor friend who just came home from work as a solo performer in a hotel in Dubai. Doc Eric showed interest in the offer since he’s been in to almost all kinds of singing competitions. However, he already planned of pursuing his sub- specialty as an Occupational Medicine practitioner which will probably need his undivided attention, yet he still considered joining the group since if they get lucky, this will also help raise funds for support of his cause-oriented organizations.

The group is almost complete but Allan still had the task to find the last potential member of Daddy’s Home.

His wife Tess suggested him to call his younger brother, Ebet Silonga, a band lead guitarist who is also passionate in composing songs. Allan hesitated at the idea at first since Ebet didn’t sing much. Yet his eagerness and interest convinced Allan that he indeed is the best person to complete the group. On the other hand, Ebet had to give up on his duties on his band and even had to close down the shop he owns to concentrate on performing with the group.

With too much time pressure, Daddy's Home was formed a week before the last X Factor Philippines auditions. Now it’s set, they didn't know what to sing and how to arrange a song vocally for a group, being their first time as a team. Their brainstorming and listening to other vocal groups made them decide finally to do an OPM song by Gary Valenciano, "Sana Maulit Muli" and a back-up song from BoyzIIMen, "I'll Make Love to You".
