Greece will need up to 15 billion euros by the end of 2016

The decision on the new Greek package will not be taken before the spring of 2014, the German newspaper says

Greece will need up to 15 billion euros by the end of 2016, European Union officials believe, as quoted by the German financial newspaper Der Handelsblatt in an article stating that the exact amount of funding requirements will be determined by the Troika.

According to the story, "Greece will need fresh money early on in the autumn of 2014," while it is believed that Wolfgang Schäuble has already hinted that money can come from the European Support Mechanism.

The article even says that there probably will be many discussions about the ESM help, as of September it will be able to provide capital aid directly to the banks without interventions by state budgets. It also mentions that although the initial discussion will be at the Eurogroup meeting in October, the decision on the new Greek package will not be taken before the spring of 2014.
