Bad weather in Philippines expected until Wednesday

RESIDENTS in Metro Manila and nearby provinces will only experience a break from rainy days on Thursday, the state weather bureau said.

In a television interview on Monday, weather forecaster Jori Loiz said the rains are caused by the southwest monsoon, which has been enhanced by tropical storm Pabuk. The storm is bound for Japan as Loiz junked the possibility that it will enter the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR).

"Inaasahan natin na two days pa po ang mga pag-uulan na ito dahil nakikita natin na may high pressure area sa ibabaw ng bagyong ito. By Wednesday, dun pa po bubukas ang high pressure area at inaasahan natin na dun lang siya tataas (Pabuk)," said Loiz.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) hoisted an orange warning for Metro Manila, Bataan and Zambales, where heavy to intense rainfall is expected to occur until before noon Monday.

Foul weather also triggered by storm-enhanced southwest monsoon killed more than a dozen people and affected over one million residents in Luzon last month
