'I only wanted to make my husband happy,' says the filipina who stole baby in Mandaluyong City
A baby girl from Mandaluyong City recently stolen by a woman who had suffered a miscarriage has been recovered by the police with the arrest of the suspect in Barangay Mangogon, Lagonoy, Camarines Sur, the police said on Wednesday.
Mandaluyong City police chief Senior Supt. Florendo Quibuyen identified the arrested suspect as Lovelyn Casipe and the recovered baby girl as Hencel Mae Joy.
Quibuyen said Casipe admitted to the crime, saying she only wished her husband would be happy to see the baby she presented as their child to conceal her own miscarriage.
“The couple were live-in partners,” Quibuyen said, adding that the baby was already with her mother.
Quibuyen said some concerned neighbors tipped off the police about the whereabouts of Casipe, whose face they saw in television reports.
“The Lagonoy police immediately coordinated with us for immediate rescue operation and arrest of the suspect. The case is now closed and the suspect and our policemen are already on their way to Manila right now,” Quibuyen said.
Earlier reports said Casipe duped the baby’s mother into entrusting the baby to her, saying she would make the baby a commercial model for a milk product.
