Batangas Racing Circuit in the largest motorsport racing facility in the Philippines

I  have previously featured a couple of motorsport racing circuits in the country and these are the Carmona Racing Circuit in Carmona, Cavite, and the Subic International Raceway in Subic Bay Freeport Zone. The track of the former is about 1 kilometer long, while the latter’s is 3 kilometers. Well, with a track stretching to 3.4 kilometers, the Batangas Racing Circuit, located in Rosario, Batangas, is the largest motorsport racing facility in the Philippines.

Inaugurated in 1996 through the efforts of the Provincial Government of Batangas and various motoring companies like Shell, Toyota, and Yamaha, the Batangas Racing Circuit started out with a 2.9-kilometer racing track that runs clockwise and with the longest straight spanning 650 meters. The 18-hectare property, managed by the Batangas Racing Circuit Association (BRCA), quickly expanded to 25-hectares and the track was lengthened into its current length of 3.4 kilometers. The straight portion of the track was also augmented to accommodate drag racing.

In 2003, the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile, the world governing body for motorsports, designated the Batangas Racing Circuit as a Class 4 Homologated Circuit. This paved the way for the facility to be one of the country’s two racing circuits (the other being the Subic International Raceway) in the Asian F3 Series.

While the BRC no longer hosts any Formula 3 races (the Asian F3 Series was discontinued in 2009), the circuit is still the premier venue for many motorsports such as the Formula Toyota, Toyota Corolla Cup, Super Bikes, National Touring Car, and Circuit Showdown.
